To learn what changed about patients’ healthcare experiences and expectations in 2020, Rectangle Health partnered with to conduct a survey of 2,000 patients. The data paints a clear picture of what is working and not working for today’s consumer-minded patients.

Payment plans and digital tools are at the top of the list of offerings that patients want more of. For example, 63% of healthcare consumers express interest in access to payment plans, and 54% of patients want to manage their payments digitally.

The results show that patients are willing to find new providers that offer the digital and flexible payment experiences that they want. The option to fill out forms digitally and receive email and text payment notifications were among the top reasons that patients would switch healthcare providers. Establishing payment plans would also entice 33% of patients to switch medical providers.

In addition to a wealth of data on what healthcare providers learned about consumers’ experiences in 2020, the report also includes the risks and opportunities to consider when preparing for a post-pandemic economy.
